The Hike

WELL MADE SLASHER / SHOCK MOVIE
This movie was quite a surprise! An effective new slasher movie that isn't so predictable and is actually very intense in certain scenes. All you need to know is that a group of beautiful women go for a weekend hike in the woods and run into some very nasty situations. I'm not giving anything away here and urge fans of slasher flicks set in the woods to check this one out! Beware though...some people may be offended by a couple of squeamish rape scenes with tied up girls but the violence is never glorified and the suspenseful ending is a real nail biter worth seeing. This isn't some micro budget flick. The production values are great and the cinematography is excellent. At times it reminded me of 'The Descent' (but without the creatures). There aren't a lot of special effects on display as the movie is more suspenseful and shocking than gory, but what is shown is indeed gruesome. For fans of solid creepy / suspenseful slasher movies that aren't predictable.

An all Girls weekend in the woods is not usually a good idea
The scenery was beautiful, the cast was good ,the acting for the most part above par for the budget. It was very brutal and violent but there wasn't a lot of gore involved although there was lot's of blood and a few mild effects.
I always like the extra gore in these films because basically as lovers of this genre that's what we like to see coupled with the other elements I fore mentioned.
There are lot of rape scenes but it plays into the heart of the plot,They weren't so bad that I couldn't watch the entire scenes like the rape scenes in Last House on the Left or I Spit On Your Grave but they were still brutal.
It's a good story and an entertaining film and the ending is unexpected and exciting.Think Eden Lake Meets Resurrection County..

A bit too drawn out; predictable
I was kindof looking forward to some softp*rn in this, and was disappointed when no one was even nude, let alone no sex. The story may have been decent, if you snooze through some of it. Could have done the whole movie in 30 minutes.
