Deep Waters

Lovely movie
This film was quite unknown to me, but I'd always wanted to see it and I was pleased to see it released among the first batch of this excellent new Fox archive series.

It's a film that certainly deserves to be better known, a simple yet effective story with good local colour of the lobster fisherfolk of Maine, living a hard life in which tragedy is never far away. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it didn't disappoint me at all after such a long wait to see it.

Dana Andrews, Jean Peters, Anne Revere and Dean Stockwell all give excellent, believable performances in this gentle tale of an orphan finding his way again after the death of his father. The print used is very good and it's a nice clean transfer to DVD.

Oddly, the film doesn't begin with the Fox fanfare - a silly quibble I know, but I always like to see it!!

Well recommended, you will enjoy this - promise!

Pretty good family movie
I am always looking for good movies that I haven't seen 100 times before, and this fits the bill. It is a good family movie.
